HP Printer Assistant for Windows is a software to install the driver automatically. However, it works for 2009 or above HP printers. Besides, the software only works for Windows OS. If the HP Printer Assistant doesn’t show up, then there are two ways to resolve this issue. However, we also add additional steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Reconnect the Printer
The first step when the HP Printer Assistant doesn’t work is you must reconnect your printer. After reconnecting your printer, click “Connect a new printer” on the Printer Assistant screen. If a red X shows up and the connection fails, click Retry, then proceed to the next step.
The next step is to turn off your printer by pressing the power button, close all running applications on your computer. Restart your computer. After that, turn on your printer and open HP Printer Assistant. If you can open the Printer Assistant, then the issue is resolved, if you can’t then continue to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall the HP printer software.
Before reinstalling the latest software, uninstall the HP printer software and driver.
The first step disconnects the USB cable from your printer. Then search “Programs and Features” in Windows. In the program list, click your HP printer device and click Uninstall. Follow the instruction to uninstall the software, then restart your computer.
Step 3: Reinstall the latest HP Driver.
The first step turns on your printer. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer. Go to this page to identify your printer model, follow the screen instructions and go to the download page. Click Download driver.
Step 4: Restart your computer and printer.
After reinstalling the driver, restart the computer and printer to finish up the software in Windows.
